An escape room is a real-life experience where players are usually “locked” in a themed room and have to find and solve successive clues to escape (hopefully!) within an hour. Players must work together and combine their efforts to make it out in time.
Yes and no. For safety reasons and for those unexpected toilet breaks, the doors are equipped with an emergency exit button. If you are nervous, please feel free to ask us to demo this for you.
Every team is assigned a Game Master. Your Game Master will welcome and brief you, monitor your progress via CCTV, provide hints from time to time and be available to take a photo of your team afterwards.
We recommend 4 players per team, but some of our rooms accommodate up to 6 players. All Aboard is designed for older children, but also works well with 2 teenagers. For groups larger than 6, we recommend splitting up and doing more than one room. That way, each player gets a chance to participate and benefit from the full experience.
Our rooms cost R375 per person. We can process payments onsite for additional players (up to 6), but we are unable to process refunds for players that couldn’t make it, so please ensure the correct number of players before completing your booking.
Bookings are essential. Payment needs to be made upfront. You can book (or check availability) online, via email or in-person. In-person we can only accept Visa and Mastercard card payments. After booking online, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive one, please email us at info@escrooms.co.za. For corporate events, please email us directly.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your game starts to sign the necessary waivers and for some general guidelines and tips! Teams are given an hour to escape the room, but can escape earlier, depending on the size and capabilities of the group. Afterward, there is a short debriefing, and we’ll be available to take a team picture. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you risk forfeiting part of your game time to accommodate subsequent players.
There is no age limit, however, Lost in Wonderland, The Attic and The Ancient Tomb rooms are designed for adults. We do allow younger players to participate in these rooms, however, the themes and content may be too complex and/or inappropriate for younger players. For these three rooms, at least one paying adult must accompany anyone under the age of 12. All Aboard is designed to accommodate children 8 years and up. While parents do not need to be in the room with the children, they are encouraged to remain close by as some groups do finish earlier than others. All players under the age of 18 require a guardian to sign their waiver.
Yes, we do. Please email us for more information. Vouchers are non-refundable and valid for 1 year.
For large parties and corporate events, please contact us directly.
Tipping is by no means expected, but always appreciated.
If you make use of a pacemaker, please bring this to our attention. Unfortunately, our rooms are not wheelchair friendly. Please note that our rooms do make use of flashing lights and require at least one member of the team to be able to differentiate between different colours. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us before booking a game if you are concerned about a specific health issue.
